One of the more exciting and enjoyable things about moving to a new community is exploring it. It's fun to discover historic sites, new shops and quirky facts as you learn your way around. So, even though you're busy with your move, take some time to check out the region's neighborhoods.

If you choose not to live on Lake Norman, or you live there but don't have access to the lake in your community, you'll want to take advantage of the many waterfront parks and public-access areas. Jetton Park, Blythe Landing and Ramsey Creek Park in the Cornelius/Huntersville area offer boat launching ramps, paved bike and walking trails, playgrounds, tennis courts and athletic fields, fishing piers and sandy beaches.

 
The Point, Mooresville

Crescent's last golf course community on Lake Norman, outside Charlotte, N.C., offers an upscale country club lifestyle in a casual setting.
